Sedona, Arizona is my place muse. I have traveled there several times and never tire of visiting. I could spend the rest of eternity drawing inspiration from those beautiful red rocks.
"Sedona Essence" is my first attempt at working with wax medium and oils on canvas. It is also a first attempt to paint a landscape via photographs of Sedona. I enjoyed the direction toward realism and will further explore this realm in my career. Despite the most pompous of the critics, the artist is by far the worst... I can certainly conjure up a few gripes about the painting. But as all work is, it is a learning device to improve your hand for the next great painting. Is this a masterpiece? NO. I'll be the first one to wave that flag, but what it is, is a very successful attempt to remove myself from the comfort zone of abstract and move to an unfamiliar realm of landscapes.
