"Horizon" a.k.a Sea and Sky in Motion. Oil on Canvas 36" x 36"

"Horizon" is a painting where I bring form and recognizebal subject matter to the forefront. I had a very successful run with the more contemporary pieces. People enjoyed the early work, with many of the pieces going live with those very people. However, as with most abstract art, there are those who as they put it... "don't get it". I understand. For example, I love the work from the 16th. century Dutch Masters, but I certainly don't paint like them (YET! But , I'm young..) And I don't particularly care for modern contemporary, that's not to say I won't explore it on my own terms. So, with that being said, I did what other artists might crucify me for and created "friendlier" pieces of work. I created a series for those I could not quite reach before, but kept within my own creative bounderies.
The image allows the eye and mind to reconcile the abstract as recognizable "Sea and Sky". My motivation was to lead emotion, motion, figure and viewer to the same place. It worked! I received many compliments for producing something recognizable. Painting something that people didn't have to squint and think about.
And, in the classic artistic trap, I had/have conflicted emotions about its success.
